RESOLUTION #262
WfIEREAS, the City of Canton has undertaken, through its elected
city officials, a study of the parking problem in the Central
business district of the said city, and
WHEREAS, the cost of pursuing said study through a competent
survey by a professional consulting firm, was felt to be ~~~
prohibitive by the traffic committee, and
WHEREAS, the Canton Chamber of Commerce and the Driver Education
students of the Canton Senior High School, and various employes
of the city of Canton volunteered their services in the conducting
of said survey, which was prepared and directed through the com-
bined efforts of the Chicago ~Totor Club, the Chamber of Commerce
Traffic Co~:nmittee, the Driver Education Instructor, Glen Hares,
of the High School, and the City Cour_ci1 Traffic Comr~ittee, and
WHEREAS, the parking survey thus prepared and organized was suc-
cessfully conducted by 35 members of the Chamber of Commerce, 30
students of the high school, and 6 city employees, all without cost
to the city, and with considerable accuracy and thoroughness;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that through this resolution the
City Council of Canton and the mayor of Canton express their
gratitude and appreciation publicly to the 71 persons of the org-
anizations named above for a fob well done, and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of Canton and the
mayor of Canton express their appreciation in a more material
way by being hosts to the 71 ;..persons of the Chamber of Commerce,
The Canton High School, and the 8ity of Canton who carried this
survey through at a dinner to be given by the city at the time
when the report of the survey findings are presented to the city
by the Chicago NTotor Club.
