RESOLUTION APPROVING AND PROVIDING FOR THE EXECUTION OF A
PROPOSED CONTRACT FOR PLANNING GRANT FOR URBAN PLANNING
ASSISTANCE FOR CANTON, ILLINOIS, UNDER SECTION ?O1 OF THE
HOUSING ACT OF 1954, BY AND BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENT OF
BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, THE CITY OF CANTON,
ILLINOIS, AND SCRUGGS _AND HAMMOND, INC.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, has, by resolution,
requested the Department of Business and Economic Development to make
application to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for Urban
planning Assistance, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Business and Economic Development has applied
for and received a grant of federal funds under Title VII, Section ?O1 of the
Housing Act~aof 1954, as amended, to aid in the financing of a comprehensive
planning program in Canton, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, the City County of the City of Canton, Illinois has given due consid-
eration to said proposed contract, by and between the Department of Business
and Economic Development, the City of Canton, Illinois and Scruggs and
Hammond, Inc.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The proposed contract for Planning A ssfstance under Section 701 of
the Federal Housing Act of 1954, as amended, by and between the Department
of Business and Economic Development, the City Council of the City of Canton,
Illinois, and Scruggs and Hammond, Inc. , whereby the total sum of $11, 950. 00
is to be paid to the Department of Business and Economic Development is hereby
in all respects approved.
Section 2. W. Paul Woods, Mayor, is hereby authorized and directed to execute
said proposed contract on behalf of the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinoi,~,
and Nellie Crawford, City Clerk of Canton, Illinois is hereby authorized and di-
rected to attest such execution and to affix the official seal thereto, on each
counterpart and to forward such counterparts to the Department of Business and
Economic Development for execution on behalf of the State of Illinois, together
with such other documents relative to the approval and execution thereof as may
be required.
