HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #504RESOLUTION ~,~-O~ WHEREAS, International Harvester Company, on July 1, 1969, will mark the anniversary of its FIFTIETH YEAR of continuous service in and as a corporate citizen of the City of Canton, Illinois; and, WHEREAS, International Harvester Company, during this time, has not only made substantial contributions to the economic welfare of the citizens of this City and Community but also responsibly joined and actively participated with them as fellow citizen t o promote and develop the civic growth and betterment of this City and Community; and, WHEREAS, International Harvester Company has been exemplary in its services in all these respects and has thereby earned an d become deserving of the appreciation and gratitude of this City and its citizens; and, WHEREAS, International Harvester Company, by reason of its many services rendered over many. years past in the City of Canton, Illinois, and the worthiness thereof, has become merited to a place in the history of this City so that its FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY of service in this City ought to be noted, honored, and perpetuated, not only in the minds and hearts of the citizens of this City, but, also, by OFFICIAL ACT OF THIS CITY perpetuated in the Official Records thereof; and, WHEREAS, a Special Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has been called purposed to this sole end, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT, AND IT HEREBY IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS: 1. That it is hereby noted and recognized, as an Act of the City of Canton, Illinois, that July 1, 1969 marks the Anniversary of the FIFTIETH YEAR of International Harvester Company in the City of Canton, Illinois; 2. That it is hereby noted and recognized, as an Act of the City of Canton, Illinois, that International Harvester Company in the City of Canton, Illinois has made profound and meritorious contributions to the life experiences of the citizens of this City and has thereby earned a fond place of honor in the remembrances and history of this City; and, 3. That the gratitude and appreciation of the City of Canton, Illinois and its citizens for the presence of International Harvester Company in the City of Canton, Illinois for the Fifty Year period last past be hereby affirmatively expressed and recognized as an .Act of this City. BE IT, AND IT HEREBY IS FURTHER RESOLVED AND ORDERED that a copy of this RESOLUTION, signed by the Mayor and attested by the Clerk of this City, together with such of the genuine and original signatures of such other elected and -1- appointive Officials of this City as may be appended thereto, be delivered and presented to International Harvester Company, Canton, Illinois for such purposes and usages as may be in keeping with the spirit and intendments hereof.
