Since then, Carla Bobell, Amanda Sampson, Michelle Spiva, and Carol Kohler have been working with Bruce Brown to redevelop and tweak final design plans that include cost estimates so that they can move ahead with bidding of the project and so they can also pursue grants. Carol stated that the design they created not only brings beauty and purpose, but it brings some history back into our downtown. There will be more space than there is at Jones Park where they can hold events and be able to have performances. It will open the door to new events and new activities. Bruce Brown was introduced to speak. Bruce is a landscape architect with Farnsworth Group out of Peoria and he gave a little background on Farnsworth Group itself. He then presented what they call a vision book to the council. They want to create a space that honors the old Opera House and has flexible outdoor space that can be used during all the season with enough amenities that people will want to come and use this space and feel comfortable doing so. They would like to recreate the arch from the old Opera House making that the centerpiece with a bit of a more modern flare along with a walkway that leads to a stage.
