(AN ORDINANCE CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL A VACANCY IN THE
OFFICE OF ALDEliMAN OF THE FOURTH WARD.)
WHEREAS, Leo Berry hay heretofore resigned as Alderman of
the Fourth Ward of the City of Canton, Illinois so that a vacancy
in the Otfice of Alderman for said Ward was thereby occasioned end
now subsists; and,
WHEREAS, at the time of the occurrence of said vacancy the
unexpired term was more than 2? months in length and, by law, would
have ended on the first Tuesday in May, 19?5; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide for a special election
to fill the vacancy of Alderman of the Faurth Ward, occasioned as
aforesaid, and for the remainder of the term expiring on the first.
Tuesday of May, 1975.
NOW, THE,R~'~'ORE, BE IT AND IT HEREBY IS ORDAINED by the
corporate authorities of the City of Canton, Illinois as follows:
That a special election is hereby called to fill the
vacancy in the office of Alderman of the Fourth Ward of this City,
occasioned by the resignation of Leo Berry as Alderman of said Fourth
Ward, and for the unexpired term thereof now subsisting and ending on
the first Tuesday of May, 19?5 .
That the general election therefor r~hall be on the third
Tuesday of Avtgust, 19?3.
That the primary therefor shall be the last Tuesday in June,
19?3.
That elf. petitions for nomination therefor shall be filed in
the office of the City C1®rk of this City not more than 69 days nor
less that 59 days pastor to the date of the primary hereinabove
established.
That the City Clerk shall give notice of the primary election
herein contemplated not less than 15 days prior to the earliest time
nominating petitions may be filed, as hereinabove provided, and to do
all such other acts in the same relative times as would be required by
law in instances of regular elections for the office of Alderman.
POSED by the City Council of the Ci of Canton, Illinois
and approved by the Mayor thereof this ~ day of March, A.D. 19?3.
