CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATIONS/COMMITTEE REPORTS:
PUBLIC SAFETY AND LEGAL
ALDERPERSON JUSTIN NELSON, CHAIR
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH A FLOCK GROUP, INC. REGARDING A
CAMERA SYSTEM FOR THE CITY OF CANTON.
Chief Eveland stated that Hector from flock safety would be giving a presentation on the
company via zoom. Eveland explained that the system is essentially a set of cameras that will be
placed at each major entrance into town. It monitors vehicles entering town by picturing the
back license plate and the back of the vehicle. It’s called an automatic license plate reader. If it’s
a stolen vehicle or has been involved in a homicide or burglary and has been entered by an
agency that is looking for them it will send out an alert to officer’s cell phones or squad car
computers. Chief Eveland stated that he has talked to the Police Chief of Chillicothe and
Bartonville who have this system and was informed there is a ten second delay so the cameras
would be placed just outside the city limits to give us time to respond and intercept them.
Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Nelson/Lovell to approve the Resolution for
An agreement with Flock Group, Inc. Regarding a camera system for the City of Canton in the
amount of $26,900.00 for one year.
