AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 959 (AS AMENDED)
ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE INITIATING AND
COOPERATIVELY DESIGNATING AN ENTERPRISE ZONE"
WHEREAS, on December 27, 1982, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
passed Ordinance No. 959 (as amended) entitled "An Ordinance Initiating and Cooperatively Designating an
Enterprise Zone," providing metes and bounds description for the City of Canton/Fulton County Enterprise
Zone; and
WHEREAS, the City of Canton has determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the City
of Canton and economic development in the Canton area to expand the City of Canton/Fulton County
Enterprise zone; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held at the meeting of the City Council of the City of Canton on
June 29, 2010, at the Historic Depot for the purpose of the expansion of the City of Canton/Fulton County
Enterprise zone where pertinent information was presented.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
That the City Council of the City of Canton hereby approves, subject to the concurrence of the
Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the expansion of the City of Canton/Fulton
County Enterprise Zone to include property identified in Exhibit A hereby incorporated for reference.
2. That the City of Canton, subject to the approval of the Illinois Department of Commerce and
Economic Opportunity, hereby approves the new metes and bounds description for the enterprise zone as
identified in Exhibit B hereto.
3. That the Fulton County Board passed a Resolution on June 9, 2010, approving the expansion
of the City of Canton/Fulton County Enterprise Zone to include property identified in Exhibit A hereby
incorporated by reference, and the new metes and bounds description for the Enterprise Zone as identified in
Exhibit B hereto.
4. That the City of Canton will provide all local benefits and amenities in the expanded
parcel as is currently being accorded the inhabitants of the City of Canton/Fulton County Enterprise
Zone including the Sales Tax Deduction. The Real Estate Tax Abatement is explicitly excluded as a
benefit to the expansion of the City of Canton/Fulton County Enterprise Zone
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting
this 2 9 day of JUNE , 2010, upon a roll call vote as follows:
