(p 9D AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING CERTAIN CODES FOR THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, Chapter 24, Section 1-3-2 of the Illinois Revised Statutes provides, in part, that any municipality is authorized to adopt by reference the provisions of any regulations or portions of any regulations, without setting forth the provisions of such regulations in full, provided that at least three copies of such regulations which are incorporated or adopted by reference are filed in the office of the City Clerk and there kept available for public use, inspection and examination; and WHEREAS, Chapter 24, Section 1-3-5 of the Illinois Revised Statutes provides, in part, that any amendment which may be made to any regulations incorporated by reference by a municipality, may be likewise adopted by reference provided that the required number of amended or corrected copies are filed with the City Clerk for inspection, use and examination by the public; and WHEREAS, the Legal & Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton, Illinois has determined that it is necessary, desirable and to the best interests of the City of Canton to adopt by reference certain uniform codes for the City of Canton; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the 1976 Edition and the 1977 Accumulative Supplement of the Uniform Building Code, as published and sanctioned by the International Conference of Building Officials, be, and the same is hereby adopted as the Building Code of the City of Canton. 2. That the 1976 Edition of the Uniform Fire Code, as published and sanctioned by the International Conference of BuiJ_d.ing Officials, be, and the same is hereby adopted as the Fire Code of the City of Canton. ~ ~ 4 . t ~ . 1 3. That the 1976 Edition of the Uniform Mechanical Code, as published and sanctioned by the International Conference of Building Officials, be, and the same is hereby adopted as the Mechanical Code of the City of Canton. 4. That the 1976 Edition of the Uniform Housing Code, as published and sanctioned by the International Conference of Building Officials, be, and the same is hereby adopted as the Housing Code of the City of Canton. 5. That the 1976 Edition of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, as published and sanctioned by the International Conference of Building Officials, be, and the same is hereby adopted as the Dangerous Buildings Code of the City of Canton. 6. That the 1976 Edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code, as published and sanctioned by the International Conference of Building Officials, be, and the same is hereby adopted as the Plumbing Code of the City of Canton; provided, however, plastic pipe, tubing and fittings for potable water piping shall be constructed in conformance with. the Illinois State Plumbing Code 1969. Plastic pipe, tubing and fittings may be used in the potable water piping system in accordance with Illinois State Regulations. Plastic pipe shall not be used in a hot water system. Plastic pipe used in a cold water system inside a building shall be of Schedule 40 through four inch (4") nominal size and shall have a minimum pressure of Z00 psi. at 73.4°F. Outside cold water systems shall be constructed with type K copper pipe. 7. That the 1978 Edition of the National Electrical Code as published and sanctioned by the National Fire Protection Association, be, and the same is hereby adopted as the Electrical Code of the City of Canton. 8. That variances from specific provisions of the Codes herein adopted may be permitted on appeal to the Appeal Committee appointed by the City Council should such Committee, after hearing, determine that a variance is necessary to alleviate undue hardship and will not adversely affect the health, safety, or welfare of the occupant of the applicable building or of any other person. ~' - . 9. That no manufacturing company which routinely employs skilled technicians shall be required to obtain any permit otherwise required by any of the Codes herein adopted for the routine performance of work by them on the premises of such company. 10. That the various Codes herein adopted and as they now exist in book or printed form are hereby declared published for the purposes of this Ordinance and shall be placed permanently on file with the City Clerk of the City of Canton and are available for public use, inspection and examination. 11. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect 10 days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication according to law.
