ORDINANCE N0. (03 ~`"
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF THE WRIGHT SCHOOL PROPERTY
FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has
adopted a plan for the acquisition of certain property hereinafter
legally described for municipal purposes, and for the payment of the
same;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. It is hereby determined that a building be constructed and
maintained in the area of North First Avenue and East Spruce Street in
the City of Canton, Illinois, and that said building be used, occupied,
improved and developed for a police and fire station in a manner necessary
and convenient for public use.
2. It is hereby determined that it is necessary, appropriate and
desirable that the City of Canton shall acquire title to and possession
of the following described real property which said real property is
necessary, required and needed for such building and lying wholly within
the limits of the City of Canton, to wit:
All of Lot 115 and the West 65 feet of Lot 120
in Swans' Addition to the City of Canton, situated
in Fulton County, Illinois.
3. That Harlan E. Crouch, Mayor of the City of Canton, Illinois,
and/or his designate, be, and he is hereby authorized, empowered and
directed to negotiate for and on behalf of said City with the owner or
owners of the hereinabove described real property for the purchase thereof
by said City.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval
by the Mayor thereof.
