ORDINANCE N0. ~a ~p
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, CHAPTER 9, SECTION 2 OF THE CANTON MUNI-
CIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE AUXILIARY POLICE FORCE.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton,
Illinois has determined that it is necessary, desirable and to the best
interests of the City of Canton to modify and amend a certain section of
the Auxiliary Police Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has
made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Title 6, Chapter 9, Section 2 of the Canton Municipal
Code be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
" 6-9-2: CREATION:
An Auxiliary Police Force for the City is hereby created
and established. The members thereof shall consist of
twenty-five (25) auxiliary policemen, each of whom shall
be appointed by the Mayor with the advice, consent and
approval of not less than two-thirds (2/3) of the City
Council. Such appointments shall be made on the first
Tuesday of each May hereafter and at such intervals there-
after as may be necessary to fill any vacancy and so as
to keep the compliment of the Auxiliary Police Force at
its maximum of twenty-five (25) members at all times or
as near thereto as may be."
2. That the remainder of Title 6, Chapter 9, Auxiliary Police Force,
of the Canton Municipal Code remain in full force and effect.
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval
by the Mayor thereof.
