ORDINANCE NO . ~ ~ ~ J='
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, CHAPTER 5, SECTION 2 OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL
CODE CONCERNING THE LICENSE REQUIREMENTS FOR DOGS.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton,
Illinois has determined that it is necessary, desirable and to the best
interests of the City of Canton to modify and amend Title 6, Chapter 5,
Section 2 of the Canton Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has made
a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Title 6, Chapter 5, Section 2 of the Canton Municipal Code
be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"6-5-2: LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Every owner of a dog shall register the same with the
City Clerk and obtain a license for each dog from the
Clerk prior to January 1 of each year. The fee for each
license shall be two dollars ($2.00) payable when
applying for said license. When making such appli-
cation, the owner shall present to the Clerk a cer-
tificate of inoculation as required by the laws of
the State of Illinois."
2. That the fee for each license for the period from June 1, 1978
to December 31, 1979 shall be One Dollar ($1.00) payable when applying
for said 1978 license.
3. That the remainder of Title 6, Chapter 5, Dogs, of the Canton
Municipal Code remain in full force and effect.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval
by the Mayor thereof.
