DISCUSS, CONSIDER AND VOTE ON HIRING THE SRO OFFICER THE 23 OF APRIL.
nd
Chief Eveland explained that initially they were going to start the new officer May 2 which,
would have been his first day at the academy. In retrospect, going through the process of
rd
having to get him into the academy it is going to work out better if they have him on the 23 a
week before he goes to the academy. The week before will be for the purpose of getting him
set with equipment and uniforms to go to the academy.
Alderwoman Lingenfelter asked Chief Eveland if this was going to be a new officer off of his list.
The Chief replied, yes.
Alderwoman Lingenfelter asked if they had ever received a job description for the School
Resource Officers. She stated she believed they were waiting to see that before their vote.
Eveland said he provided a copy of that to Attorney Jump.
Attorney Jump explained that he did receive a copy and basically the school district approved
the expectations we have of the officers. He went on to say that it is really just a matter of
going back and doing what was talked about which is, at some point, having a meeting with the
union and going through all of the job descriptions and making sure they are up to date.
Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Nelson/Lovell to approve hiring the SRO
rd
replacement Officer one week earlier than initially planned on the 23 of April.
