PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE OPENED THE MEETING FOLLOWED BY THE INVOCATION GIVEN BY NANCY WHITES, CITY CLERK. Mayor Jerry Bohler asked for roll call at 6:30 P.M. Present -Aldermen Robert Molleck, Jim Hartford, Larry Sarff, Craig West, David Nidiffer, Kevin Meade, JoAnne Shores, Mary Fillingham. Absent -None. MINUTES OF MAY 1, 2001. Motion by Aldermen Molleck/Hartford the minutes of May 1, 2001 be accepted and placed on file. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously. MINUTES OF MAY 1, 2001 (Second meeting.) Motion by Aldermen Sarff/Molleck, the minutes of May 1, 2001 second meeting be accepted and placed on file. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously. BILLS FOR APRIL, 2001. Motion by Aldermen Molleck/West, all bills properly approved are to be paid. Roll call. AYES -Aldermen Fillingham, Shores, Meade, Nidiffer, West, Sarff, Hartford, Molleck. Mary Ulrich the City Treasurer from Peoria and Dan Beiser, city treasurer from Alton, honored the former city treasurer of Canton Pat Wright with a plaque, designating Pat a lifetime membership into the Illinois Treasurer's Association. Several of the Past President's of the association also attended. (Congratulations Pat Wright, you are well deserving of this special award! Nancy Whites.) COMMITTEE REPORTS: Finance. Council Action Motion by Aldermen Hartford/Sarff, to place a '/4 page ad in the Spoon River Scenic Drive Program Booklet at a cost of $40.00. Roll call. Motion by Aldermen Hartford/Molleck, to approve hiring Jimmie's Locksmith to change the locks on City Hall outside doors and top of stairs, Mayor's door, and the outside building door for ESDA, in the amount of $107.40. Roll call. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously. Motion by Aldermen Hartford/Nidiffer, to approve the purchase of a dissolved oxygen meter and probe for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, from Thomas Scientific for $1761 plus shipping. Roll call. (Due to the size of the items the city crews cannot move them, nor do they have a place for storage.) Roll call. AYES -Aldermen Molleck, Hartford, Sarff, West, Nidiffer, Meade, Shores, Fillingham. Motion by Aldermen Hartford/Molleck, to approve the purchase of a defibrillator in the amount of $1497, and to purchase the required instructional video and software at an additional cost of $169. Discussion. John Stanko, fire chief mentioned that they have approval of a grant to pay for these items. The total for the items are $1666.00, and all but $69 will be paid by the grant funds. Motion by Aldermen Hartford/Sarff, to authorize the yearly Dam inspection and a report to IDNR by Maurer & Stutz at a cost of $850.00. Roll call. Motion by Aldermen Hartford/West, to approve paying the cost for all elected officials to attend the Illinois Municipal League Conference in Springfield on June 1st and 2°d, and to pay registration of $100 per person and lodging of $75.00. Council Action None. Informational. The negotiation committee will meet in executive session Tuesday 22 at 5:30 P.M. at the city building with the Public Works Union. NEW BUSINESS: RESOLUTION -APPROVING SPECIFIC SALARIES FOR THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENT HEADS, SUPERINTENDENTS, FULL TIME APPOINTIVE EMPLOYEES AND PART TIME EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF CANTON. First reading, read in its entirety. Motion by Aldermen Sarff/Shores, the resolution be adopted. (Pat will receive a months salary of $2080, and no benefits.) Roll call. (Joe Ginger will receive an increase in salary of $200 to tape the committee meetings. His salary for the month will be $400.00.) Roll call.
