(This address was given by 911.) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE OPENED THE MEETING FOLLOWED BY THE INVOCATION GIVEN BY ADMII~TISTRATIVE ASSISTANT JIM SNIDER. Mayor Edwards asked for roll call at 6:30 P.M. Present -Aldermen Hartford, Phillips, Nidiffer, Meade, Shores, May. Absent - Molleck, Sarff. MINUTES OF DECEMBER 19, 2000 MEETING. Motion by Alderman Hartford, second by Alderman Nidiffer, the minutes of December 19, 2000 be accepted and placed on file. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Public Safety & Traffic. Council Action None. Streets & Garbage. Council Action None. Lake, Buildings & Grounds. Council Action None. Public Works, Water & Sewer. Council Action None. Informational. Jim Elson city attorney is working on obtaining easements for the new water line from the Canton lake. Remaining are 4 easements out of 9. COMMUNICATION FROM MAYOR EDWARDS. Police Chief J. Michael Elam reported that his department has secured 3 vehicles, 1 from a felony, 2 from drugs. Mike mentioned that the department is not in need of these trucks and wants to offer them for bid. If the city uses them, they have to use for one year before they can be sold. Mayor Edwards recommended to council to go along with Mike's suggestion of going out for bid. Motion by Alderman Meade, second by Alderman May, to place for bid 3 trucks from the police department drug program. Roll call. AYES -Aldermen May, Shores, 97 Continued 1-2-2001 This thursday the Police Department wil be offering again the Citizens Academy. A total of 16 applicants will be in the program. Mayor Edwards thanked the department as this allows the citizens to get acquainted with what the police are doing. OLD BUSINESS: None. NEW BUSINESS: RESOLUTION -DIRECTING DEMOLITION OF IMPROVEMENTS TO REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT 61 EAST SIDE SQUARE, CANTON, ILLINOIS AND OWNED BY BARBARA MCDANIEL. (THIS IS THE FORMER DROW HARDWARE BUILDING.) First reading, read by title. Motion by Alderman Phillips, second by Alderman Shores, the resolution be adopted. Roll call. AYES - Aldermen Hartford, Phillips, Nidiffer, Meade, Shores, May. NAYS -None. Resolution being #3554. ORDINANCE -PROVIDING FOR HANDICAP PARKING AT 231 EAST ELM STREET IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS. (KOUNTRY KITCHEN RESTAURANT.) First reading, read by title. ORDINANCE -ABATING ALL OF THE BOND LEVY FOR THE 2000-2001 FISCAL YEAR ($1,800,000 Principal Amount Alternate Revenue Bonds Series 1995). First reading, read by title. ORDINANCE -REGULATING DEVELOPMENT IN FLOODPLAIN AREAS. First reading, read by title. ADJOURNMENT. Motion by Alderman Meade, second by Alderman Hartford, to adjourn.
