Council Action Motion and second by Aldermen Shores/Carl, to approve the request from White Oaks Tap fora `Deer Garden' license for a fund raiser for Youth Acres on July 13th from 1:00 to 11:00 p.m. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously. Motion and second by Aldermen Shores/Meade, to accept the low bid from United Paving Construction Company for the LAPP FY-03 Project M-5007 (016) in the amount of $429,351.43. Motion and second by Aldermen Meade/Shores, to approve the purchase of vinyl siding from Alexander Lumber (Canton) in the amount of $2,955.16 for the Wastewater Treatment Plant main building and the two sheds at the Industrial Park. Motion and second by Aldermen Meade/Hartford, to accept the low bid from Seward Construction, Inc. for Phase 1 (b) storm building repair Project No. 234- 01129, in the amount of $263,697, contingent upon Ed Seward overseeing the project. Motion and second by Aldermen Meade/Carl, to allow the Water Department to purchase a billing module from LOCIS in the amount of $1,000 to inter phase with Mid -America National Bank. (The committee minutes reflect...this will be through an electronic debit that will offer more convenience to the Canton residents when paying their bill. COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR BOHLER. Mayor Bohler introduced Lt Dean Putman to speak about an incident on June 21St. Dean mentioned that the Police Department had received a call that a 18 month old Michael Davis fell into a pool face down. Nine year old Keylee Kay Dugan rescued Michael and pulled him out of the pool, got an adult to call emergency services. If she had not done what she did, Michael would have drowned. Mayor Bohler presented Keylee a plaque for her act of heroism towards another. Mayor Bohler thanked the city employees participating in the first softball game. The Police, Public Works and Fire Department employees participated. The police won the trophy. Also, Mayor Bohler thanked those bringing the baked goods. Mayor Bohler thanked the citizens for their donation to the Fireworks campaign. Donations can still be made. Erich Thompson will provide the entertainment, he is a 25 year old singer. Thanked Vicky Harper the Fulton County Treasurer as she contacted people in the area as well as other areas for unclaimed funds from the state. Mayor Bohler mentioned that he has received a request on, what can we do with yard waste? Met with Clif O'Brien and he came up with a good idea. NAYS -Alderman Shores. 5 AYES, 1 NAY, 2 ABSENT. Motion carried. Ordinance being #1730. NEW BUSINESS: ORDINANCE - PROVIDING FOR HANDICAP PARKING AT 162 EAST CHESTNUT STREET. First reading, read by title. ORDINANCE -APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING MAY 1, 2002, AND ENDING APRIL 30, 2003. First reading, read by title. City Attorney Ron Weber commented that a public hearing will be held before the regular scheduled council meeting, and Nancy Whites City Clerk will have copies made available for those needing one. Anyone wanting to make comments can do so at that time. ADJOURNMENT. Motion and second by Aldermen Hartford/Fillingham, to adjourn. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously.
