A regular meeting of the Canton City Council was held on May 21, 2002 in council
chambers at the Historic Depot 50 North 4th Avenue, Canton, Illinois.

Mayor Jerry Bohler asked for roll call at 6:30 p.m. Present -Aldermen Robert Molleck,
Jim Hartford, Larry Sarff, Craig West, Les Carl, Kevin Meade, JoAnne Shores, Mary
~ Fillingham. Absent -None.
MINUTES OF MAY 1sT, 2002 MEETING. Motion and second by Aldermen
Molleck/Hartford, the minutes of May 1st, 2002 be accepted and placed on file.
Voice vote, motion carried unanimously.
MINUTES OF MAY 1sT, 2002 SECOND MEETING. Motion and second by
Aldermen Hartford/West, the minutes of May lg`, 2002 (second) meeting be
accepted and placed on file. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously.

Council Action
Motion and second by Aldermen Hartford/Sarff, to approve the repairs on the
street sweeper of a power torque converter in the amount of $3,100.00, with labor
done in-house. Roll call. AYES -Aldermen Molleck, Hartford, Sarff, West, Carl,
Meade, Shores, Fillingham. NAYS -None. 8 AYES, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion
carried.
Motion and second by Aldermen Hartford/Carl, to accept the low bid for janitorial
services for city halUpolice & fire building from Corporate Clean in the amount of
$2700 per month. Roll call. AYES -Aldermen Fillingham, Shores, Meade, Carl, West,
Sarff, Hartford, Molleck. NAYS -None. 8 AYES, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion
carried.
Motion and second by Aldermen Hartford/West, to approve the expenditure of
$3,100 to Fire Protection Services to do the annual hydrant inspection and testing.
Roll call. AYES -Aldermen Molleck, Hartford, Sarff, West, Carl, Meade, Shores,
Fillingham. NAYS -None. 8 AYES, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.
Motion and second by Aldermen Hartford/West, to approve pay estimate #6 from
Laverdiere Construction, Inc. in the amount of $106,730.60; and pay estimate #7
from Leander Construction in the amount of $21,907.80. Roll call. AYES -
Aldermen Fillingham, Shores, Meade, Carl, West, Sarff, Hartford, Molleck. NAYS -
None. 8 AYES, 0 NAYS, 0 ABSENT. Motion carried.

Informational. A Town Hall meeting will be held on Thursday May 23`d, at 6:00 p.m. at
Puche's Restaurant on the Eastside of the square.
There will be an "Open House" of the Police Department and City Hall that is now
located at 2 North Main Street on May 30th from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.

COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR BOHLER. Mayor Bohler said he wanted to
remind the citizens of our recycling bins at Elm Street and 4th Avenue. Cliff O'Brien
Street Supt. mentioned what can be placed at the recycling bins such as newsprint,
plastic, glass and aluminum.
Mayor Bohler thanked Fire Chief John Stanko for inviting him to the Fire Memorial in
Springfield. Three firefighters from Canton were honored for saving a young lady's life.
The firemen are Lieutenant Jim Campbell, Scott Roos & Tony Fahrenbruch.
(Congratulations to all three for receiving such a high honor!).
