A regular meeting of the Canton City Council was held on March 5th, 2002 in council
chambers at the Historic Depot 50 North 4th Avenue, Canton, Illinois.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE OPENED THE MEETING FOLLOWED BY THE
INVOCATION GIVEN BY CITY CLERK NANCY WHITES.
Mayor Jerry Bohler asked for roll call at 6:30 p.m. Present -Aldermen Bob Molleck,
Jim Hartford, Larry Sarff, Craig West, Kevin Meade, JoAnne Shores, Mary Fillingham.
Absent -Alderman David Nidiffer.
MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 19, 2002 COUNCIL MEETING. Motion by Aldermen
Molleck/Hartford, the minutes of February 19, 2002 be accepted and placed on file.
Voice vote, motion carried unanimously.

Council Action
Motion by Aldermen Shores/Meade, to accept the low bid from Quick Oil for
gasoline for the next three months in the amount of $8243; and diesel fuel from
Riverland FS in the amount of $.84. Roll call. AYES -Aldermen Fillingham, Shores,
Meade, West, Sarff, Hartford, Molleck. NAYS -None. 7 AYES, 0 NAYS, 1 ABSENT.
Motion carried.

Council Action
Motion by Aldermen Meade/Shores, to accept the low quote from Advanced Electric
for a booster pump to be grounded properly, and to repair the safety switch and
starters for both pumps and the contacts cleaned, at a cost of $1,746.00. Roll call
AYES -Aldermen Molleck, Hartford, Sarff, West, Meade, Shores, Fillingham. NAYS -
None. 7 AYES, 0 NAYS, 1 ABSENT. Motion carried.
COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR JERRY BOHLER. Jerry gave an update on
the Drow Hardware Building. The city has three options...1. The city was looking into
demolishing the back t/2 ,put on a new roof, fix up the inside, and use Tif funds. Then
sell the building. 2. A contractor was interested in tearing down the back t/2 and fixing

this to give some of their ideas of what should be done. Also they can contact the
Mayor's office. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Aldermen Sarff/Molleck, the appointments of Aldermen Craig West and
Mary Fillingham to check on some options for the old city hall building at 210 East
Chestnut Street, and bring those options to the first meeting in May, be confirmed.
Voice vote, motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Bohler apologized to State Representative Michael Smith. A Thermal Imaging
camera was given to the city and the mayor only gave credit to State Senator George
Shadid, when Mike Smith also deserved the same credit.
OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS:
ORDINANCE -AMENDING 7-3-2 AND 7-3-3 OF TITLE 7, AND AMENDING 8-
18-1, 8-18-4, AND 8-18-6 OF TITLE 8, OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO GARBAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM. First reading, read by title.
Discussion. City Attorney Ron Weber mentioned that the current ordinance needs an
additional correction. The present ordinance states under 8-18-4 for all funds to be
delivered to the Treasurer every 15 days, and the correction should read all funds to be
delivered to the Treasurer once a month.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion by Aldermen Molleck/Hartford, to adjourn. Voice vote,
motion carried. The regular scheduled meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
