HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance # 1919ORDINANCE NO. 1919 --~--- AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A YIELD SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION OF ING BOULEVARD AND HARVESTER ROAD IN THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON ERSOLL ILLINOIS. COUNTY, WHEREAS, the Public Safety Committee has determined that it is necess the citizens of Canton, Illinois to provide for a yield sign at the intersection of Inger oll Bouleva d aninterest of Harvester Road in the City of Canton, Illinois; and d WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That pursuant to 625 ILCS 5/11-904, a yield sign shall be placed at the intersection of In Boulevard and Harvester Road in the City of Canton, Illinois, and that every driver of a veh 111 approaching the yield sign shall in obedience to such sign slow down to a speed reasonable for the existing conditions and, if required for safety to stop, shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or if none, then at the point nearest th intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersectin roadwa e After slowing or stopping, the driver shall yield the right-of--way to any vehicle in the int esection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time such driver is moving across or within the intersection. 2. If a driver is involved in a collision at an intersection or interfered with movement of other vehicles after driving past a yield right-of--way sign, such collision or interference shall be deemed prima facie evidence of the driver's failure to yield right-of--way. 3. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction or plea, be subject to a fine of not less than Seventy-five ($75.00) nor more than Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars for each such offense. 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 18th day of December , 2007 upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Lewis, Strandberg, P~eade, Ndiffer, Glest, Sarff, Berardi, Schenck.
