PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE OPENED THE MEETING, FOLLOWED WITH THE
INVOCATION GIVEN BY CITY CLERK NANCY WHITES.
Mayor Bohler asked for roll call at 6:30 p.m. Present – Aldermen Larry Sarff, Bob
Molleck, Elny Harn, Les Carl, Jim Hartford, Rick Reed, Craig West. Absent –
Alderman Mary Fillingham.
MINUTES OF APRIL 19, 2005 MEETING. Motion
and second by Aldermen
Molleck/Hartford, the minutes of April 19, 2005 meeting be approved and placed on file.
Voice vote, motion carried unanimously.

and second by Aldermen Harn/Sarff, to accept the low estimate from Hillyer Inc
in the amount of $6,600 to furnish excavating equipment and labor for manhole cover at
Spruce and Johnson Court. (The city would be responsible for providing the following
items: (1) manhole, (2) sand backfill, (3) various piping and fittings, (4) trucking of
materials to and from job, and (5) restoration of the roadway. The total estimated cost of
this project including retaining Hiller Inc. is $12,970.00.) Roll call. AYES – Aldermen
West, Reed, Hartford, Carl, Harn, Molleck, Sarff. NAYS – None. 7 AYES, 0 NAYS 1
ABSENT. Motion carried.
COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR BOHLER.
Ralph Grimm chairman of the
CADC gave a plaque to Jerry Bohler for his service, vision and his support for the last 4
years.
Mayor Bohler then gave plaques to those members of the City Council who will be
leaving for their service and commitment to their positions. Those receiving plaques
were…City Treasurer Patty Beaird Franzoni, her tenure was 5-01 to 5-3-05; Aldermen
Bob Molleck, his tenure was 5-91 to 5-3-05; Aldermen Elny Harn, her tenure was 5-03
to 5-3-05. Alderman Mary Fillingham was not present, her tenure was from 5-01 to 5-3-
05. Also receiving a plaque for his selfish acts in video taping the council and
committee meetings for four Tuesdays of the month to Joe Ginger. (Congratulations
Joe!).

Council meeting May 3, 2005 (1 meeting)
Bob Molleck stated he had worked for the city some 24 ½ years and during some tough
times, he said he has enjoyed his tenure and said he was very humble that he was allowed
to do the job.
Mayor Bohler said he only missed two meetings while he was the mayor. One was
because he was ill and the other was his mother’s death.
Mayor Bohler than gave his remarks of his appreciation to all elected officials,
department heads, all city employees, and the community. He gave his appreciation for
all businessess in this community and those who have remodeled, revamped, added on to,
or opened up a new business.
OLD BUSINESS:
ORDINANCE – AMENDING 5-10-13, AND ADDING SECTION 5-10-9 TO THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO HAZARDOUS MATERIALS.

FAMILY DWELLING IN A B-2 ZONING CONFIGURATION AT 106 MARTIN
AVENUE, CANTON, ILLINOIS. Motion

OATH OF OFFICE – CITY CLERK.
Mayor Jerry Bohler gave the oath of office to
reelected city clerk Nancy Whites.

vote, motion carried unanimously. The regular scheduled first council meeting adjourned
at 6:48 p.m.
