ALDERPERSON JEFF FRITZ, CHAIR
DISCUSS, CONSIDER AND VOTE ON THE PURCHASE OF 150-95 GALLON GARBAGE TOTES AND
100-65 GALLON GARBAGE TOTES FROM B AND G SALES OF GRAND RAPIDS, INC.
The city previously ordered the garbage totes from Rehrig Pacific, but they recently had a
significant increase in their cost. The amount of the increase was over $22.00 per tote. Rehrig
also required a minimum order of 112 totes for the 95-gallon totes. The city received a quote
from B&G sales that was a lower price and carried the same 10-year warrant offered by Rehrig
Pacific.
It is the recommendation to go with B&G Sales and to have the totes stamped as they are
ordered.
Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Fritz/Gossett to purchase 150-95-gallon totes
and 100 of the 65-gallon totes from B&G Sales of Grand Rapids Inc.

Engineer Keith Plavec explained that at Liberty Place and Third Avenue there is a house for sale.
The person buying the property was doing their due diligence and found that the garage is
extending into the city's right of way over four feet. A survey was completed by Ron Cloninger.
Ron found that the garages to the west of the property are all into the right of way. The homes
in the area are older homes and it is possible that the homes and garages were built before zoning
codes were put into place. It was the recommendation to vacate 5-8 feet to move the garages
back onto the right of way. It is recommended to hire Cloninger Land Surveying to complete the
vacation plat, and complete the proper paperwork for a notice. An ordinance would then be
brought to the council to review and consider during the month of February.
