Main Street ; Canton Harvester Inn RESOLUTION NO. 5333 A RESOLUTION APPROVING INTERVENTION IN PROPERTY TAX APPEAL BOARD PROCEEDINGS WHEREAS, in relation to 150 N. Main Street, Canton, IL 61520 (the "Property"), Canton Harvester Inn, LLC has filed an appeal with the State of Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board, assigned Docket Number 2020-07281, of the assessment by the Fulton County Board of Review for tax assessment year 2020; and WHEREAS, the real estate tax revenue from the Property is significant, and the City of Canton and/or one of its tax increment financing districts ("Canton 1-Downtown/51h Ave TIF") will lose substantial tax revenue if the assessed valuation of the Property is reduced as requested; and WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has determined that the best interests of the City of Canton and its residents will be served by intervening in the appeal before the Property Tax Appeal Board. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: It is hereby determined that it is advisable, necessary and in the public interest that the City of Canton intervene in the appeal of Canton Harvester Inn,LLC to the State of Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board of the assessed valuation by the Fulton County Board of Review of the Property. Section 2: That the attorneys of the law firm of Davis & Campbell L.L.C. are hereby authorized and directed to file an Appearance of Attorney and Request to Intervene in Appeal Proceeding with the Property Tax Appeal Board. Said attorneys are further authorized to enter an appearance or otherwise intervene in any related proceedings or appeals, including but not limited to any before the Fulton County Board of Review. PASSED AND APPROVED THIS 7TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2021.
