RESOLUTION N0. ~( ~~.
A RESOLUTION APPROVING SALARY RANGES AND SPECIFIC SALARIES FOR THE VARIOUS
DEPARTMENT HEADS, FULL-TIME APPOINTIVE EMPLOYEES AND PART-TIME APPOINTIVE
EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF CANTON.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has determined
that it is necessary, desirable and to the best interests of the City of
Canton to set salary ranges and specific salaries for the various Department
Heads, full-time appointive employees and part-time appointive employees of
the City of Canton; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has reviewed the
proposed salary ranges for the various Department Heads, full-time appointive
employees and part-time appointive employees of the City of Canton, said ranges
being set forth in Exhibit A which is hereto attached and herein incorporated
by reference; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has reviewed the
proposed salaries for the various Department Heads, full-time appointive
employees and part-time appointive employees of the City of Canton, said
salaries being set forth in Exhibit B which is hereto attached and herein
incorporated by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the salary ranges for the various Department Heads, full-time
appointive employees and part-time appointive employees of the City of Canton,
said ranges being set forth in Exhibit A which is hereto attached and herein
incorporated by reference, are hereby approved.
2. That the salaries for the various Department Heads, full-time appointive
employees and part-time appointive employees of the City of Canton, said salaries
being set forth in Exhibit B which is hereto attached and herein incorporated
by reference, are hereby approved. Said salaries are to be effective as of and
retroactive to date of May 1, 1981. Further, that said salaries are in addition
to other emoluments and entitlements normally and customarily extended to each
such employee.
3. That, where specifically set forth in Exhibits A and B hereto attached
and herein incorporated by reference, employees therein specified shall receive
cost of living allowances as therein set forth. All such cost of living allowances
shall be retroactive to and effective as of May 1, 1981.
4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon .its passage
by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval by the Mayor
thereof.

Additionally, each o~ the persons holding positions listed under "Department
Heads", above, shall receive an annual cost of living increase not to exceed
ten per centum (100) per year; each of the persons holding positions listed
under "Full-Time Appointive Employees", above, shall receive an annual cost
of living increase not to exceed five per centum (50) per year. In each
instance, computation of the cost of living percentage shall be by reference
to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as of May 1, 1981 which then was 266.8.
The per centage figure applies to the rise in CPI over the May 1 figure;
value is hereby set at a 1~ per hour increase for each .3 per cent rise in
the CPI above the May 1 figure.
