A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE DESIGNATION OF LANDS WITHIN THE
RICE LAKE CONSERVATION AREA.
Wf~REAS, the impact of mining coal reserves lying within the Rice Lake
Conservation Area of Fulton County has been the subject of a detailed factual
study conducted by the Illinois Department of Energy and Natural Resources,
the results of which have recently been published in a report entitled,
"Illinois Land Report: Rice Lake Conservation Area"; and,
WHEREAS, the Fulton County Board, on or about October 11, 1983, by their
resolution, a copy of which is hereto attached and herein incorporated by
reference as Exhibit "A", supported the suitability of such lands for mining,
provided environmental controls are applied by the Illinois Department of
Mines and Minerals; and,
WF~REA.S, the Canton City Council is desirous of supporting the Fulton
County Board and, further, is desirous of assisting business and industry
in the greater Canton area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVID BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the resolution passed by the Fulton County Board on or about
October 11, 1983, hereto attached as Exhibit "A", is hereby approved and
endorsed by the Canton City Council.
2. That the Canton City Council hereby announces its support of the
suitability of such lands for mining, provided that environmental controls
are applied by the Illinois Department of Mines and Minerals.
3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof.

vote as follows:
AYES; Aldermen ~9ay, Carl, Workman, Sarff, Savill, Hammond, Kovachevich.
NAYS: None .

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the impact of mining coal reserves lying within the Rice Lake
Conservation Area of Fulton County has been the subject of a detailed factual
study conducted by the Illinois Department of ~nergy and Natural Resources,
the results of which have recently been published in a report entitled, "Illinois
Land Report: Rice Lake Conservation Area"; and
WHEREAS, it is our interpretation of the facts as presented in the "Illinois
Land Report: Rice Lake Conservation Area" that the Fulton County Board should
support the suitability of such lands for mining provided environmental controls
are applied by the Illinois Department of Mines and Minerals.,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Fulton County Board does support
the designation of Lands within Rice Lake Conservation Area as suitable for mining,
provided that present. environmental controls are mandated.
