NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION FOR THE CANTON CITY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the City of Canton is going through severe economic times; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Canton has lost much of its industrial base and
many jobs; and,
WHEREAS, the City is suffering a reduction in its tax base which, in turn,
leads to a decline in basic City services; and,
WHEREAS, many of the City's citizens are unemployed and may be forced to
leave the City of Canton; and,
WHEREAS, the Council and the staff have dedicated many hours to retain
existing jobs and attract new employers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. Be it resolved that the Canton City Council and staff shall continue
with energetic steps for economic development and community preservation and that
the City of Canton will "Work More in 84".
2. The City of Canton proclaims its wholehearted cooperation with Fulton
County citizens; all County, Township, and Municipal officials; all members of
the financial community; and, elected officials. All are encouraged to "Work
More in 84" to realize our common goals.
3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at
a regular meeting this ~ r~{ day of ,~sn~~s r~ , 1984, upon a roll call
vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovachevich, Hammond, Savill, Sarff, bJorkman, Carl,
May, Horr.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: None.
