ORDINANCE N0. 953
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 9 , CHAPTER 10 , SECTION 2 (D) (~1u' CAF-:THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES
IN THE BUSINESS DISTRICT AND IN THE CITY PARKING LOTS
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that
it is necessary and in the best interest of the citizens of the
City of Canton to reset and reestablish hours of no parking in
the Business District and in the various City owned parking lots;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That Title 9, Chapter 10, Section 2(D)lof the Canton
Municipal Code be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as
follows:
"9-10-2(D)1: Parking spaces or stalls shall be marked and
designated, as hereinafter set forth within
the Business District, for the parking of motor
vehicles and it shall be unlawful for any person
to park any motor vehicle within any such parking
spaces or stalls for more than two (2) consecutive
hours between the hours of nine o'clock (9:00) in
the morning and five o'clock (5:00) in the evening
of any week day (excepting only of such national
holidays as may be determined and promulgated by
the Congress or President of the United States).
However, all day parking shall be permitted in
lots owned by the City of Canton, Illinois for the
use and convenience of the public for parking motor
vehicles therein, but it shall be unlawful for any
person to park any motor vehicle in any parking lot
owned by the City of Canton, Illinois between the
hours of eleven o'clock (11:00) P.M. and six o'clock
(6:00) A.M, on any day except for physicians on
emergency calls."
2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof
and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,.
Illinois at a regular meeting this 5th day of October
1982, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovachevich, Hammond, Savill, Sarff, Grant, Carl,
Larsen.
NAYS: Alderman Horr

Ordinance was posted in tI^a City Building, 210 E. Chestnut Street, Carton,
Illinois, commencing on October 6th , 19 82 and continuing for
at least ten (10) days there_~ter. Copies o such Ordinance were also
available for public inspec~ion upon request in the Office of the City
Clerk.
