ORDINANCE NO. 1883
An Ordinance re-zoning certain property of Chazles H. Taylor and Janet Ruth Taylor
to a B-2 zoning configuration.
WHEREAS, the property described on Exhibit A, which is attached hereto and made a part
hereof ("Taylor Property"), is located within the corporate limits of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the Taylor Property is currently zoned R-2, residential, under the Canton City
Code; and
WHEREAS, Charles H. Taylor and Janet Ruth Taylor are the owners of the Taylor Property
and have petitioned the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, that the property be re-zoned
to a B-2 zoning configuration in order to conform to its current use, which is a professional office
building, which is in conformity with the property adjacent to the east, also owned by Charles H.
Taylor and Janet Ruth Taylor, on which is planned the construction of a professional office building
to be connected to the existing office building on the above-described property; and
WHEREAS, the surrounding neighborhood consists of both business and residential uses,
with business as the current use of the property and with business use across the street from the
Taylor Property, and the re-zoning of the Taylor Property to B-2 would be consistent with its current
use and the current uses in the area; and
WHEREAS, on August 14, 2006, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of
Canton met, pursuant to notice as required by law, and held a public hearing concerning the
Petitioners' request to re-zone the property to a B-2 zoning configuration, and, at the meeting, no
objectors were present and no objections to the Petitioners' request were voiced, and, after said

hearing, the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended to the City Council of
the City of Canton, Illinois, the re-zoning of the property to a B-2 zoning configuration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION:
That the property described on Exhibit A and known as the Taylor Property shall be
and the same hereby is re-zoned to a B-2 zoning configuration.
2. That the corporate authorities of the City of Canton, Illinois, and their respective
officers and agents shall be and they aze hereby authorized to amend the applicable maps of the City
of Canton, Illinois, to so reflect the re-zoning to a B-2 zoning configuration.
3. That a copy of this Ordinance shall be filed with the appropriate authorities of the
County of Fulton and State of Illinois, to reflect the re-zoning, all as made and provided for by law.
4. That the Mayor of the City of Canton, Illinois, shall be and he is hereby authorized
to affix his signature as the Mayor of said City to this Ordinance and the City Clerk of the City of
Canton, Illinois, shall be and she is hereby authorized to attest such signature thereto.
Passed by a vote of the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, this ~ day of
September, 2006, by a vote of ~ ayes and ___p_ nays, with ~ AIdermen absent.
