ORDINANCE NO. X881
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A THREE-WAY STOP AT THE
INTERSECTION OF FIFTEENTH AVENUE AND EAST ASH STREET IN THE
CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that it is necessary
and in the best interest of the citizens of Canton, Illinois to provide for athree-way stop at the
intersection of Fifteenth Avenue and East Ash Street in the City of Canton, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That a stop sign shall be placed at the southwest corner of the intersection of Fifteenth
Avenue and East Ash Street in the City of Canton, Illinois, and that every driver of a
motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the West on Ash Street shall bring
the vehicle under his or her control to a complete stop before entering said intersection
and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic.
2. That a stop sign shall be placed at the southeast corner of the intersection of Fifteenth
Avenue and East Ash Street in the City of Canton, Illinois, and that every driver of a
motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the East on Ash Street shall bring the
vehicle under his or her control to a complete stop before entering said intersection
and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic.
3. That a stop sign shall be placed at the northwest corner of the intersection of Fifteenth
Avenue and East Ash Street in the City of Canton, Illinois, and that every driver of a
motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the North on Fifteenth Avenue shall
bring the vehicle under his or her control to a complete stop before entering said
intersection and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic.
4. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction or plea, be subject
to a fine of not less than Seventy-five ($75.00) nor more than Five Hundred ($500.00)
dollars for each such offense.
5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor
thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.

meeting this 15th day of August, 2006 upon a roll call vote as follows:
