HomeMy WebLinkAbout#5278 Letter of Understanding Between School District #66 and Liaison Officer RESOLUTION NO. 5278 A RESOLUTION APPROVING A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CANTON UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT# 66 AND THE CITY OF CANTON REGARDING THE SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICER AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER SAID LETTER ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CANTON ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to enter into a Letter of Understanding with the Canon Union School District# 66 as set forth in Exhibit"A" attached hereto and incorporated herein. NOW THEREFORE,be it resolved by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois as follows: 1. That the Letter of Understanding attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit "A" is hereby approved by the Canton City Council. 2. That the Mayor, or his designee. is hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver said Letter of Understanding on behalf of the City of Canton. 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton. McDowell, Mayor ATTEST: — KA2 L lana Pavley-Rock, City Clerk EXHIBIT A LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING This document formalizes the agreement between Canton Union School District # 66 (the "District")and the City of Canton(the"City")regarding the terms and conditions of the utilization of the School Liaison Officer(the"School Resource Officer"or the"Offi(,er") by the District.By signing this agreement, both parties agree to be bound by the following conditions for the period covering August 1,2020 (retroactively)through July 31,2021. The Parties have previously entered into an agreement executed in 1991) regarding the Officer, Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, the District is responsible for remitting 66.6% of the Officer's salary and benefits,based on the current rate of a probationary, mice officer,to the City. The purpose of this Letter of Understanding is to set forth the amount of the District's contribution toward the Officer's salary and benefits. The parties intend that all other provisions of the agreement remain in full force and effect. As agreed between the District and the City,the District shall pay to the C ity the amount of Forty- Six Thousand Ninety-Seven Dollars and Ninety-Three Cents ($46,"97,93) as and for the contribution toward the Officer' s salary and benefits. One-half of the amiount shall be due on or before October 1 and the balance on or before March 1 of each year this Letter of Understanding is in effect.
