A RESOLUTION CONDITIONALLY DEDICATING A PORTION OF CITY OWNED
REAL PROPERTY TO THE ERECTION AND MAINTENANCE OF A COMMUNITY
MEMORIAL TO ALL VETERANS OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that
it is necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to
conditionally dedicate a portion of City owned real property to the
erection and maintenance of a memorial to all veterans of the Armed
Forces of the United States of America; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determina-
tion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. That the real property identified in Exhibit A to this
Resolution is hereby conditionally dedicated to the erection and
maintenance (but, not necessarily in perpetuity) of a community
sponsored and financed memorial to all honorably discharged
veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America and to
those who gave their lives in such service.
3. The condition of this dedication is that within six (6)
months from the effective date of this Resolution sufficient funds
must either be on hand or firmly pledge in an aggregate amount
sufficient to fund the construction of such memorial and sufficient
to fund a maintenance fund for the future upkeep and maintenance of
such memorial.
4. Upon any failure of the foregoing condition(s), this
Resolution shall automatically become mull and void and of no force
and effect.
5. That the City of Canton reserves the right to convert the
real property described in this Resolution to some other or further
future municipal use or need so long as the City first dedicates
some suitable portion of City owned real property to the erection
and maintenance of a substantially similar memorial to that
actually erected as contemplated by this Resolution.
6. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 16th day of
August , 1988, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Chapman,. May, Sarff, Steck, Zilly, Kovachevich
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Aldermen Bohl er, Meade

LEGAL DESCRIPTION
Beginning at the Southwest corner of Lot 115 in Swan's 2nd Addition to the
City of Canton, thence Northerly along the West line of said lot 22 feet
more or less to an iron pin; thence Southeasterly 31.11 feet more or less
to an iron pin on the South line of said lot; thence Easterly along the
South line of said lot 22 feet to the point of beginning.
