RESOLUTION NO. 2 0, 7 3-
WIiERi:AS, American Servicemen who served our country in
the Korean War and the Vietnam Z°Tar remain unaccounted for;
and,
WHEREAS, in excess of 2400 Americans remain listed as
POW/iiIA's in Southeast Asia; and 8000 Americans remain
listed as P04d/h1IA' s in Korea; and,
WHEREAS, the Veterans of the Vietnam and Korean Wars
caill never forget their comrades,
NOW, TIIEREr'"ORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois supports the
continued effort to locate and recover from Southeast Asia
and Korea, American troops who are still listed as POI~1/ir1IA's
and that this Council supports continuing negotiations ~~~ith
the Vietnamese, Laosian, Cambodian, and Korean Governments
concerning the fate of our missing men and women.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Canton, Illinois, supports legislation proposed in
the House of ?'epresentatives, Hill H:2 1730 of the U. S.
Congress, and that a certified copy of this Resolution be
for`;~arded by the City Clerk, to the President of the United
States Senate, the Speaker of the United States FIouse of
Representatives, each member of the Illinois Congressional
Delegation and the Governor of the Mate of Illinois.
That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City
of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor
thereof .
PASSED by the City Counci3l of the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 5th day
of September 1939, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES; Aldermen Chapman, May, Sarff, Steck, Zilly,
Kovachevich,
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Aldermen Bohler, Meade,
