A RESOLUTION OF CONDOLEMENT
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has learned of the recent
death of former Alderman David S. Grant in the State of Georgia;
and,
WHEREAS, the City of Canton because of time and distance
factors was unable to timely respond at services held for Alderman
Grant; and,
WHEREAS, Alderman Grant honorably served the City of Canton
for 4 years from May, 1981 to May, 1984; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Canton to formally
recognize our collective loss with the passing of Alderman Grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CANTON CITY COUNCIL AS
FOLLOWS:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. That the Canton City Council hereby recognizes the
services which Alderman David S. Grant freely and voluntarily rendered
unto this City and the citizens of this Community.
3. That the City of Canton shares in the grief at the loss of
Alderman Grant and the Canton City Council feels a deep sense of
loss with the passing of one of its former Alderman.
4. That it is the desire of the Canton City Council that a
certified copy of this Resolution together with a cover letter over
the signature of the Mayor of the City of Canton be sent to each
adult member of Alderman Grant's family.
5. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 5th day of April, 1989
upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Zilly, Steck, Sarff, Meade, Bohler, May,
Chapman .
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Alderman
