As you are aware Bob Molleck has announced his intention to retire
in May. Bob DeRenzy also is approaching the retirement years.
Both of these Chiefs have been very community minded and have put
in a great deal of effort in their years of service. As an
incentive to retirement I would like to recommend to the Council
that they pass a Resolution allowing both of these Chiefs a
$600.00 salary increase for their final 30 days. In the case of
Bob DeRenzy this would not take effect until he was ready for
retirement. In the case of Bob Molleck it would take effect
starting in April of 1991. The Police and Fire Pension differs
from the IMRF in the fact that their retirement is based upon
their salary earned with the last pay check. Therefore, the City
will be out only $600.00 each and would allow them an increase in
their pension. This proposal would be in addition to any annual
percentage raise that is given to department heads.
