ORDINANCE NO. 1221
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION
OF EAST ASH STREET AND NORTH TWENTIETH IN THE CITY OF
CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the
Canton City Council has determined that it is necessary to
place a stop sign at the Southwest corner of the
intersection of East Ash Street and North Twentieth Avenue
in the City of Canton, Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That a stop sign shall be placed at the Southwest
corner of the intersection of East Ash Street and North
Twentieth Avenue in the City of Canton, Illinois. And, that
every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said
intersection from the West shall bring the vehicle under his
control to a complete stop before entering said intersection
and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in
traffic.
2. That the Street Superintendent shall post an
appropriate sign informing the public of this Ordinance.
3. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall,
upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than
Twenty-Five ($25.00) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars
($200.00) for each such offense.

of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by
the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as
provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this
6th , day of December ~ 1988 upon a roll
call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Steck, Sarff, Meade, Bohler, May,
Chapman.
NAYS: None,
ABSENT: Aldermen Kovachevich, Zilly.
