HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1230 ORDINANCE NO. i~ ~n AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS. (BAR MAC SUBDIVISION) WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the City Clerk for the annexation of the real property described below, and said real property is not within the corporate limits of any municipality, but is contiguous to the City of Canton, Illinois, said real property being a part of the Copperas Creek Fire Protection District but not being a part of any public district, Lot # 3, 4. 5. 6, 7, 8, 9. 10, & 23 in Bar~iac Subdivision also: Lot A, B, & C as indicated on accompanying plat. WHEREAS, proper notice of the filing of the petition for annexation was given to the Trustees of Copperas Creek Fire Protection District and notice has been made and filed with the Fulton County Recorder of Deeds, WHEREAS, a public hearing on said petition was conducted by the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Canton on January 9, 1989 pursuant to proper notice having been published in the Canton Daily Ledger, WHEREAS, on January 9, 1989 the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended to the City Council that the real property described in the exhibit attached hereto be annexed to the City of Canton pursuant to Chapter 24 of the Illinois Revised Statutes, WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Canton, Illinois that said real property be annexed to the City of Canton. NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS: 1. That the City Council finds as facts the assertions set forth above. 2. That the described real property be and is hereby annexed to the City of Canton, Illinois. 3. That the described real property be and is hereby rezoned R-2 Residential. 4. That the Zoning Administrator is directed to make the appropriate Changes to the zoning maps of the City of Canton to show this annexation and zoning. 5. That the City Clerk is directed to record with the Recorder of Deeds of Fulton County and to file with the County Clerk of Fulton County a certified copy of this ordinance together with an accurate map of the annexed territory. 6. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton and approval by its Mayor.
