HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #3122RESOLOTION N0. 3122 WHEREAS, James Grier's firefighting career started in Canton on September 7, 1955, and he retired from the Canton Fire Department as Fire Chief on September 1, 1982; he worked with the Illinois State Fire Marshal's office as an Arson Investigator from September 1, 1982, until his death on October 6, 1990; and, WHEREAS, a memorial scholarship fund has been initiated by the Central Illinois Fire Investigators Association to honor James Grier; and, WHEREAS, the scholarship will be awarded to recipients planning to enroll in an accredited college or university for the study of police or fire sciences; and, WHEREAS, men of the caliber of James Grier, who dedicated his life to the protection and well-being of the citizens of this community, is worthy of the honor being paid him. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, that we join with the Central Illinois Fire Investigators Association in honoring the memory of retired firefighter, James Grier; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be presented to Mrs. James Grier, in memory of her late husband.
