WHEREAS, David W. O~Brien lost his life in the line of duty
as a police officer for the City of Canton; and,
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize permanently
the supreme sacrifice of David W. O~Brien for the citizens of
Canton and to provide a role model for the young people of the
community; and,
WHEREAS, the City~s Public Safety Building has had only its
generic name since it was accepted on September 2, 1980; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Public Safety
Building of the City of Canton shall hereafter be known as the
O~Brien Public Safety Building.
That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon ita passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 2nd day of March,
1993, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Molleck, Sarff, Steck, Bohler, Meade, Chapman, May.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Alderman Coay,
