AN ORDINANCE CREATING PROVISION 9-5-18 RELATIVE TO A STUDENT PICK UP
LANE FOR EASTVIEW SCHOOL IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS

ORDINANCE NO. 4118
AN ORDINANCE CREATING PROVISION 9-5-18 RELATIVE TO A STUDENT PICK
UP LANE FOR EASTVIEW SCHOOL IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Municipal Code and the City of Canton Code, the City of
Canton has the authority to determine the use of its roadways and to designate appropriate
parking and no parking areas within its municipal boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined that due to traffic
and safety concerns involving students being picked up after school from Eastview Elementary
School, a special pick-up lane should be created and designated with a sign during the pertinent
time periods;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council for the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1: A new ordinance shall be created and provide as follows:
"9-5-18: EASTVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PICK UP LANE:
(a) On Monday through Friday while school is in session, there shall be a student pick-up lane
created and designated with striping from 13`h' Avenue heading east continuing to the west
entrance to the Eastview Elementary School.
(b) From 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on each respective school day, there shall be no parking in
the designated pick-up lane to allow for pick-up of students from the school."
Section 2:
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon the retirement of the upcoming
retiring sergeant and shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and adoption.
Further, the City Clerk shall be instructed to provide to the codifiers of our municipal ordinance
this ordinance amendment for insertion and its proper place and each copy of this code within
thirty (30) days of its final passage.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a regular
meeting this 16 day of October, 2018 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Q Mayhew, Angela Lingenfelter, Tad Putrich, Angela Hale, Craig
West, John Lovell, Justin Nelson
