Home My WebLink About#5163 Approving agreement for Firefighters RESOLUTION NO 5163 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CANTON FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 1897, I.A.F.F., A.F.F.I., AFL/CIO AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID AMENDMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CANTON,ILLINOIS WHEREAS, the City of Canton entered into negotiations with the City of Canton Firefighters Local 1897, I.A.F.F., A.F.F.I., AFL/CIO relative to the establishment of wages, benefits and other conditions of employment; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois approved said Agreement on May 15, 2018 WHEREAS,the contract did not detail an available healthcare benefit plan and negotiations were reopened to consider an amendment to the language related to the high deductible healthcare plan contained in said Agreement; and WHEREAS, Appendix C detailed certain merit points for various positions and the titles of Fire Officer I and Fire Officer II shall become obsolete; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the City to approve said Amendment. NOW THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That the Agreement between the City of Canton Firefighters Local 1897, I.A.F.F., A.F.F.I., AFL/CIO, which was approved on May 15, 2018, is amended and said Amendment, a copy of which is attached hereto as Amendment A. 2. That the Mayor and City Clerk of Canton, Illinois are hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver said Amendment on behalf of the City of Canton. 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,at a regular meeting this 4TH day of September, 2018., upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Quin Mayhew, Angela Lingenfelter, Angela Hale, Craig West, Justin Nelson, Ryan Mayhew NAYS: None ABSENT: Aldermen John Lovell,Tad Putrich APPROVED: ,&L& ent McDowell, ayor AA, D T, 'ave oc , City Clerk AMENDMENT to the COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT Between THE CITY OF CANTON and CANTON FIREFIGHTERS LOCAL 1897,I.A.F.F.,A.F.F.I.,AFL/CIO This Amendment to make certain changes, deletions, modifications and other revisions to the collective bargaining agreement in effect between the City of Canton ("City") and the City of Canton Firefighters Local 1897, I.A.F.F., A.F.F.I., AFL/CIO ("Union") is made by and between the City and the Union, for itself and on behalf of its members. WITNESSETH In consideration of the mutual covenants herein contained,the parties hereto agree as follows: The Union and the City of Canton agree that certain changes, deletions, modifications, and other revisions to the parties' existing collective bargaining agreement ("CBA"), are necessary and are set forth in this Amendment. The Article number below corresponds to the Article in the CBA and specific changes to that Article. DIVISION 11. COMMISSIONED OFFICERS' INSURANCE An additional paragraph is amended to add the following language: 11.1. Payment Effective May 1, 2018, the employee has the option to enter into the High Deductible Healthcare Plan. The employee shall only pay the difference in cost between the High Deductible Healthcare Plan premium and the employer's cost of the 77.5% of the respective Preferred Provider Option premium. The difference between the total monthly premiums of the Preferred Provider Option and the High Deductible Healthcare Plan shall be given to the employee as taxable income or a pre-tax automatic payroll deduction to the employee's Healthcare Savings Account. The employee shall always have the right to return to the Preferred Provider Option at open enrollment or a qualifying event.
