WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
has by ordinance duly adopted provided that a special election be held in the
City of Cant...n for the purpose of submitting to the voters of said City the
proposition as to an increased levy of taxes for general purposes, as pro-
vided in said ordinance;and whereas, it is necessary to make certain provisions
for said election;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TH. CITY OF CANTON, FULTON
COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The form of the ballot to be used at said election shall set
forth the proposition to be voted thereon in substantially the following form:
"Shall the aggregate amount of taxes to be levied for general corporate
purposes by the City of Canton for any one year for the five fiscal years of
said City beginning with the fiscal year May 1st, 1938 to stay 1st, 1939, and
to the fiscal year May 1st, 1942 to May 1st, 1943 inclusive, exclusive of
the amount levied for the payment of bonded indebtedaiess or interest thereon
and exclusive of taxes authorized by Acts which by their terms provide that
such taxes shall be in addition to taxes for general purposes authorized
by law, be increased from 2/3 of one percentum to eighty and two-thirds
hundredths (.80 2/3) of one percentum for general corporate purposes upon
the aggregate valuation of all property within the City of Canton, subject
to taxation there-in, as the same may be equalized for State and County taxes
for the current year?"
Section 2. Said election shall be held in the several wards of said City
heretofore established by ordinance as voting precincts and the polling plac;-s
therein and judges and clerks of said election have been designated as follows:

3 Hulit School-West Chestnut St & Avenue C.
4 Kellogg School-534 S. Fourth Avenue.
5 High School-153 W. Maple St.
6 Anderson School-200 Block S. 7th Avenue.
7 McCall School-North 8th Avenue.

The polls at said election will be opened at six o'clock in the fore-
noon and will be closed at five o'clock in the afternoon of said day.
All persons qualified to vote at general :municipal elections are entit-
led to vote on said proposition.
And the City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice of said election in
manner and form pursuant to law.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON AND APPROVED BY THE
MAYOR THIS 7th day of JUNE, A. D. 1938.
