ORDINANCE NO. 1643
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING ON EAST SYCAMORE STREET
BETWEEN NORTH MAIN STREET AND NORTH FIRST AVENUE IN THE
CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the Canton City Council has
determined that it is necessary, desirable and in the best interest of the City of Canton to
eliminate parking from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on East Sycamore Street between North
Main and North First Avenue in the City of Canton; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the foregoing recitals are hereby found to be fact.
2. That motor vehicle parking is hereby eliminated and prohibited from 6:00 p.m.
until 6:00 a.m. Central Time on East Sycamore Street between North Main Street and
North First Avenue in the City of Canton, Illinois.
3. That all ordinances, or portions of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance
are hereby rescinded and repealed.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by
the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
5. That the Street Superintendent shall cause appropriate signs to be posted.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a
regular meeting this 16th day of November1999, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Nblleck, Hartford, Sarff, Phillips, Nidiffer,
Shores, May.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Aldermen Meade.
