WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois
passed an ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE providing for borrowing money and
issuing bonds of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois, in the principal amount of
250,000, for the purpose of constructing re-
pairs, extensions and ijorovements to the ex-
isting waterworks supply and distribution system
in said City, and providing for the levy and
collection of a direct annual tax for the pay-
ment of the principal of and interest on said
bonds; and all subsequent ordinances providing
for appropriation or levy of said moneys .
PASSED ON August 7, 1951 and approved on August 7, 1951 and
approved by the electors at a Special Election held on July 24,
1951, and any or all other subsequentappropriation ordinances or
tax levy ordinances applying to said principal and interest on
the bond interest described in the above paragraph.
WHEREAS, the City Council has publicly represented to the
voters of the City that excess profit from the municipal water
and sewer plant operations would be used for the payment of said
bonds issued for repairs, extensions and improvements to the
water works.
NOW, THEREFORE, in order to keep faith with said voters, it
is necessary that the County Clerk of Fulton County, Illinois be
notified not to extend taxes for said bond issue and,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
instructed to file with said County Clerk a certificate stating
that said City will have sufficient funds to pay the interest due
July 1, 1953 in the sum of ;3, 645.00, and the principal and interest
due on January 1, 1954 in the sum of 4,3, 645.00, and a sufficient
fund to meet the principal to January 1, 1954 in the sum of ,";9,000.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk be and they
are hereby authorized to execute said certificate and file the same
with the County Clerk of Fulton County, Illinois.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, this
16th day of December, A. D. 1952 and approved by the Mayor of said
City on the 16th day of December, A. D. 1952.
