ORDINANCE NO. 1566
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER OF SALE OF CERTAIN
REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY,
ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the City of Canton has become the owner of record of a certain
parcel of real property hereinafter described; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has determined that the real property
hereinafter described is no longer necessary, appropriate, required for the use of,
profitable to, or for the best interest of the City of Canton.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the real property presently owned by the City of Canton, being located
and legally described as follows, to-wit:
Lot 11 in Keeling and Bilby's Addition to the Town, now City of Canton, s
situated in Fulton County, Illinois, also part of the Northeast Quarter of
Section 27, Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth Principal
Meridian, described as follows: Beginning at the Northeast corner of Lot
11 in Keeling and Bilby's Addition to the Town now City of Canton,
running thence North 33 feet, thence West 50 feet, thence South 33 feet to
the Northwest corner of said Lot 11, thence East along the North line of
said Lot to the place of beginning, situated in Fulton County, Illinois, all
situated in the City of Canton, County of Fulton and State of Illinois.
AKA: 123 E. Olive, Canton, Illinois 61520
2. That public notice of the foregoing proposed sale shall be as by law made and
provided.
3. That the use of the foregoing parcel of real estate is determined by reference to
the City of Canton's zoning ordinance and map, as the same maybe from time to time
amended.
4. Conveyance of title to any successful bidder shall be by a quit-claim deed.
5. The City of Canton shall show merchantable title to any successful bidder by a
commitment to insure title in the amount of the purchase price, followed by a title
insurance policy after closing of the transaction. An appraisal of the property is on file for

prospective purchasers at the Officer of the Mayor, 210 East Chestnut, Canton, Illinois
61520.
6. The City of Canton reserves the right to reject any and all bids and with respect
to the foregoing parcels of real property.
7. Bids shall be submitted to the City Clerk, City Building, 210 East Chestnut
Street, Canton, Illinois 61520, on or before 5:00 o'clock p.m. local time, on November 25,
1997. Late bids will not be considered. All bids submitted shall be opened before the
Canton City Council Mechanical Committee at it's regular meeting of November 25, 1997.
8. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approved
by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a
regular meeting this 4th day of November , 1997.

INVITATION FOR BIDS
Public Notice is hereby given as folllows: The City of Canton is the owner of the
following real property and legally described as:
Lot 11 in Keeling and Bilby's Addition to the Town, now City of Canton a
situated in Fulton County, Illinois, also part of the Northeast Quarter of

The City of Canton invites written bids and proposals for the development of said
properties as listed above. The appraised fair market value has been set as the minimum
bid accepted for the properties as follows: Lot 11 in Keeling and Bilby's Addition plus
the additional 35 feet, as above: Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($3500.00).
Appraisal available for inspection at the Office of the Mayor. All written proposals must
be delivered to the City Clerk of the City of Canton at 210 East Chestnut, Canton, Illinois,
no later than S:OOpm, Tuesday November 25, 1997. Bids will be opened at the regular
Mechanical Committee meeting of November 25, 1997.
