Safe Roads is an Illinois Chamber initiative that is being supported by the transportation committee. This will be on the ballot this November. This amendment does not create any new taxes. This amendment protects the money that is collected by governments in Illinois and spent on transportation investments. It would put an end to the politicians having the ability to divert funds. Currently politicians are allowed to take some transportation revenue and move it to the general fund. The Illinois Chamber is wanting these funds to go specifically to the transportation infrastructure. It is important that people understand that this does not increase taxes--- it just designates where the funds go. Transportation and infrastructure is vital to the importance of economic development everywhere. Anyone wanting more information on this amendment can visit- Businessforsaferroads.com.
