Canton City Council held a regular meeting on April 22, 1969 in the City Council
Chamber. Mayor Woods called the meeting to order at 5:30 P. M. Present for roll
call: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svob, Jacobs, Sepich, Long, Ellis, Kroell,
Spencer, Yerbic, Danner, and George. Absent: Alderman Skinner.
Pledee of Allegiance was followed by Invocation by Alderman'Danngr.
Motion by Alderman Kroell, seconded by Alderman Ellis that minutes of the previous
meeting be accepted and placed on file. Carried by voice vote.

Clean-up week, April 08, 1969 through May 2, 1969 announced by Alderman Spencer
who moves that the City Clerk be authorized to place notice in newsnaper to that
effect. Motion seconded by Alderman Yerbic and carried by voice vote.
Alderman Howard announced an informal meeting had been held the previous evening
with the newly electhd officers for discussion of the city's finances.
Claims Committee to hold ameting immediately following the Council meeting
announced by Alderman Danner.
E. Stanley Klyber, Executive Secretary of the Association of Commerce and Industry
reported that a movie show for children would be held during the clean- week --
admission would be one paper bag of trash to be deposited in a truck b�Rhe:ter.
Special Committee reports.

Request to hold annual "Forget-ME-Note' day by the American Disabled Veterans
on July 19, 1969 read. Motion by Alderman Jacobs, seconded by Alderman Sepich
that the request be granted. Voice vote. Carried.
Letter from the Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Engineering Firm calling for a meeting
with the Mayor and City Engineer regarding the Sanitary Water Board request for
sewage treatment studies and improvements as well as'pumping station problems.
To be referred to the new Council.
Resignation of Mrs. Elaine L. Scott read. To be filed.
Mayor Woods reported that he was resiang as chairman of the I. H. C. Fifty-year
celebr-tion to be held next summer.

New business.
Canvass of the April 15, 1969 General Election returns next item on the agenda.
Mayor Woods appointed Aldermen Howard, Jacobs and Danner to canvass the returns.
Council recessed at 5:40 P. M. Council reconvened at 6:2 3 P. M. Report of the
,-anvass read by City Clerk. Alderman Kroell moves, Alderman Long seconds motion
to accept the report of the Canvassir*. Board. - Carried by voice vote.
Resolution for transfer of funds: $ 7,500.00 from the Public Comfort Station
Fund to the Road and 3ridge Fund; $8,000.00 from the Garbage Disposal Fund to
the Road and Bridge Fund; $603000.00 from the General Fund to the Road and Bridge
Fund and $50,000.00 from the General Fund to the Fire Protection Fund. Motion
by Alderman Long, seconded by Alderman Howard to adopt this Resolution. Roll call
vote. AYE: Aldermen George, Danner, Yerbic, Spencer, Kroell, Ellis, Long, Sepich,
Jacobs, Svob, Farr, Howard, and Rusnak. NAY: None. Resolution No. 500.
First reading of an Ordinance pertaining to increase in employees salaries 6,1,% for all full time employees and 10¢ per hour for part-time employees. Alder-
man Ellis stated that the most the old Council could provide for the employees
was job security -- not to be fired without cause. Ordinance to lay over.
First reading of an Ordinance for increase in Salary of City Clerk($1,000.00) and
City Treasurer (>11000.00). Same to lay over.
First reading of an Ordinance to increase the Mayor' salary($2,500.00), to lay over.
Motion by Alderman Ellis, seconded by Alderman Jacobs to adjourn. Voice vote.
Carried. Canton City Council aajourns at 6:30 P. M.
