Canton City Council held a regular meeting on Feb. 18, 1969 in the City
Council Chamber. Mayor Woods called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M.
Present for roll call: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svob, Sepich, Long,
Ellis, Kroell, Spencer, Yerbic, Danner, and George. Absent because of
illness: Aldermen Jacobs and Skinner.
Pledge of Allegiance followed by Invocation by Alderman Danner.
Motion by Alderman Kroell to dispense with reading of minutes, accept same
and place on file. Motion seconded by Alderman Ellis, carried by voice vote.
Reports of Standing Committees.
Report of the Civil Defense Committee meeting'by Alderman Danner who also
provided the lay-out of the headquarters located an N. Main Street. He
stated there is a need for sleeping quarters, a"fuel tank and a police radio
and, when the new fire station is built, it would be well to use the under-
ground portion for space for the Civil Defense. He asked that Mr. Hill.,
City Treasurer, include the Civil Defense balance on his monthly reports.

Communications to Council.
VLetter from Paul Jaeger commending Donald Luebee and the Planning Commission.

New business.
Mr. Stanley Klyber, Executive Director of the Association of Commerce and
Industry, reported on the proposed brochures to be used in connection with
the planned International Harvester Co. golden anniversary. (An 8 page,
8X x 11 brochure - 3500 for approximately $2,000.00 or a double page folder
- 10,000 for approximately $3,000.00 - these in multicolor).
Mapleton display sign contract expired in January, 1969 and has not been
renewed reported by Mr. Klyber.
Mr. Klyber announced a meeting to be held March 4, 7:30 P. M. for discussion
of off street parking lot with Mr. George Devlin, Detroit National Automo-
bile Assoc. as consultant. Motion by Alderman Howard that the Council go on
record as supporting the ACI to pay the City's share of this survey - esti-
mated cost between $300.00 and not to exceed $500.00. Motion seconded by
Alderman Long. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen George, Danner, Yerbic,
Spencer, Kroell, Ellis, Long, Sepich, Svob, Farr, Howard, and Rusnak. NAY:
None.
Mayor Woods reported that the Division of Highways plan to send a new pro-
posal for purchase of portion of the 'Main and Locust Street parking lot for
use in the new paving project. Motion by Alderman Long, seconded by Alder-
man Yerbic that this matter be referred to the Parking Lot Committee. Voice
vote carried.
Motion by Alderman Yerbic, seconded by Alderman Ellis to adjourn. Voice
vote. Carried. Canton City council adjourns at 5:48 P. M.
