Jan. 21, 1969
Canton City Council held a regular meeting on Jan. 21, 1969 in the City
Council Chamber. Mayor Woods called the meeting to order at 5:30 P. 111.
Present for roll tali: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svob, Jacobs, Sepich,
Long, Ellis, Spencer, Danner, and George. Absent: Aldermen Skinner, Alder-
man Kroell because of death in family, and Alderman Yerbic.
Pledge of Allegiance was followed by Invocation by Alderman Danner.
Motion by Alderman Ellis, seconded by Alderman Long that the minutes of the
previous meeting be accepted and placed on file. Carried by voice vote.
Standing Committee reports.
Ave. A and Locust St. intersection; traffic congestion discussed. Alderman
Ellis moves that a resolution that the City Council goes on record requesting
the State for traffic control lights at that intersection. Alderman Sepich
seconds motion. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen George, Danner, Spencer, Ellis,
Long, Sepich, Jacobs, Svob, Farr, Howard, and Rusnak. NAY: None.
Claims Committee Chairman, Alderman Danner announced meeting following the Council.
Special committees.
Mr. Ozzie Langfelder, RLesident Engineer for Crawford, Murphy &, Tilly sent report
that storm sewer work progressing well and may be completed by end of January.
Alderman Jacobs stated there seemed to be some misunderstanding about voters
being properly registered for the Municipal elections and moves that the City
Clerk be instructed to advise the news media to inform the public in whatever
way is necessary. Alderman Sepich seconds this motion. Roll call vote. AYE:.
Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr, Svob, Jacobs, Sepich, Long, Ellis, Spencer,
.Danner, and George. NAY: None.

Invitation to attend dedication of Elgin Municipal,Building, Feb. 2, 1:15 P. M.
Final estimate for water treatment plant improvements by Caldwell Engineering
Co., amount dut $10,516.32. Motion by Alderman Long, seconded by Alderman
Howard to allow payment on this estimate. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen George,
Danner, Spencer, Ellis, Long, Sepich, Jacobs, Svob, Farr, Howard, and Rusnak]
NAY: None.
Old business
Complaints, water standing; in yards and some buildings, 1000 block on So. Main
St. because of poor drainage. City Engineer and Street Supt. to investigate and
report what action should be taken to relieve this situation.
Inquiry from Alderman Danner about H U D and sewer contract approval. Mayor
LIoods reported it was not necessary for HUD to contact contractors since they
are familiar with the proceedings of such work.
New business.
Resolution requesting housing assistance for an additional 120 units of housing
for elderly presented. Alderman Long moves, Alderman Spencer seconds motion to
adopt this Resolution. Roll call vote. AYE: Aldermen Rusnak, Howard, Farr,
Svob, Jacobs, Sepich, Lon;;, Ellis, Spencer, Danner, and George. I,iAY:None. #497.
Mayor Woods made these appointments: To the Citizens Advisory Committee:
Robert Jackson to replace Dick Dunberger, Phillip Miller to replace Tom Jones,
and Cary Beadles to replace Vic DeLost. Motion by Alderman Howard, seconded by
Alderman Long that the appointments be confirmed. Roll call vote. AYE: Alder-
men George, Danner, Spencer, Ellis, Long, Sepich, Jacobs, Svob, Farr, Howard,
and Rusnak. NAY: P?one.
Motion by Alderman Ellis, seconded by Alderman Howard to adjourn. Voice vote
carried. Canton City Council adjourns at 5:57 P.
