Mayor Woods called the meeting to order at 7:00 P. M. Present for roll calls Aldermen Howard, Rusnak," Svob, Farr, Whitehead, Jacobs, Long, Skinner, Kroell, Ellis, Yerbic, Spencer, George, and Danner. Absent: None. Pledge of Allegiance was followed by Invocation by Alderman Danner. Alderman Kroell moves and Alderman Yerbic seconds motion that the minutes of the previous meeting be accepted as presented and placed on file. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. Mayor Woods called for reports of standing committees. Alderman Spencer reported, especially for the attention of the press and radio, that the old street lights in the'City would be converted to vapor lights this program was outlined on a three-year basis. Traffic Committee chairman, Alderman Ellis reported that while the traffic light was out of order on First Avenue and Elm Street, it was being converted in accordance with state standards. Mayor Woods called for reports of special committees. Mayor Woods requested that the Ordinance Committee meet with the Citizens Advisory Council and the City Attorney regarding •the drafting of a building and electrical code ordinance. Communications to the Council. Letter from Association of Commerce and Industry regarding continuation of the lot on West Chestnut Street for parking -- on same basis for one more year. Letter to be filed. Letter from the Department of Public Health regarding the proper maintenance of the sanitary land fill. Mr. Rolland Steach$ landfill operator explained that no trash had been burned for some time except when some outsiders have made use of the premises without permission. Garbage Disposal Committee to place an attendant at the landfall for a few weekends to catch culprits. Alderman Long moves, Alderman Whitehead seconds motion that the City Attorney answer the letter from from the Department of Health. Request from the department heads for an increase in salary to $8.,000.00 per year. Alderman George moves, Alderman-Yerbic seconds that same be referred to the Finance Committee, City Treasurer and-Mayor for study. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. - Old business. Mr. Roger Conrad, representing the Addressograph.-Multigraph Corporation explained the advantages of the purchase of a new addressograph -- stating that 6'000 water bills could be addressed in one hour. Alderman Farr moves, Alderman Jacobs seconds motion to refer same to Water and Sewer and Finance Committee for study and report to Council. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. New business. Bonds with the Transamerica Insurance Co., each in the amount of $1,000.003 approved by the Finance Committee for William Bourke, Traffic Officer and Sherwin Gilpin, Police Patrolman presented. Alderman Farr moves; Alderman Rusnak seconds motion that same be accepted and placed on file. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. Canton Seniot High School Band request permission to sell candy in the City on Jan. 28 and the f ollawing Saturday if all candy is not sold -- this money to help defray the bandfs expenses for tour into Florida and Georgia. This request had been made to Alderman Danner. Alderman George moves and Alderman Spencer seconds motion to grant this request. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. 1 455 Jan. 17, 1967, Cont. (2) Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Engineering Firm made request that the final payment on the work done by Wiegand and Storrer in the Graham Hospital area be granted ($3,893.60). Alderman Long moves, Alderman Kroell seconds motion that the Council concur in the recommendation of the Consulting Engineers for the final payment to Wiegand & Storrer. Roll call vote. AYE: Unanimous. Letter and Resolution from Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Engineering Firm for street improvement (Section No. 59CS), portions of Sycamore, Eighth Ave., Myrtle Street, Tenth Avenue, Olive Street, Twelfth Avenue and Sixth Avenue). Letter stated that Motor,Fuel Tax Funds would not be available unless an ordinance had been passed declaring "no Parking" on one side of each of these streets. Alderman George moves, Alderman Danner seconds motion to adopt this Resolution. Roll call vote. AYES Unanimous. Alderman Danner moves, Alderman Jacobs seconds motion to refer the matter to the Traffic Committee to make recommendation regarding parking on one side so that an ordinance could be drafted. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. Resolu- tion No. 440. Alderman Ellis called for a meeting of the Traffic Committee immediately following the Council meeting. a" Statement for $6,271.25 from Crawford., Murphy & Tilly-Engineering Firm' f or services rendered on the West Vine Street project (46CS -•• Main Street to West Corporate Limits),- as per agreement dated Sept. 9, 1960, wotk to be^ perf ormed when and if Motor Fuel Tax Funds are available. Alderman Howard moves, Alderman Svob seconds motion to comply with-the request for Motor Fuel Tax Funds for this project (1960 estimate of cost $142,202.91). Roll call vote. AYE: Unanimous.
