Mayor Woods called the meeting to order at 7:00 P. M. Present for roll call; Aldermen Howard, Rusnak, Farr, Whitehead, Jacobs, Long, Knoell_, Ellis,s, Yerbic, Spencer, Geor re, and Danner. Alderman Duncan arriving at 7:02 P. M. Absent: Alderman Skinner. Pledge of Allegiance was followed by Prayer by Alderman Danner. Alderman Danner moves and Alderman Rusnak seconds motion that the minutes of the previous meeting be accented as presented. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. Mayor Woods called for reports of standing committees. Alderman George, Chairman of the Street and Alley Committee moves that the snow-plow bid from the Truck Equipment Co, $1620.00 be accepted and purchase of same be made. Alderman Kroell seconds this motion. Roll call vote. Aj7E: Unanimous. Chairman of the Lights committee reported that the C.T.P.S.Co were installing vapor lights in the vicinity of the new Y.M.C. and the water tower. A meeting of the Police and Le-al Committee was called by Alderman Farr to be held following the regular Council meeting. Alderman Ellis reported a Traffic Committee meeting for Nov. ltd, 1965, 4:00 P. M. Alderman Duncan arriving to the Council Chamber 7:02 P. M. Mayor Woods called for reports of special committees. Mayor Woods called for communications to the Council. Letter from the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare stating that a final inspection of the sewage works construction would be made on Nov. 24, 1965, 10:00 A. M. Mayor Woods r eported that Mr. Charles Ritchie would represent the consulting engineering firm and Mr. Howard Gibbons would re-C)resent the Cite. Letter of appreciation for fine work bz,T Canton Lake Patrolman Arthur Wilkinson for 4 cleaning up Lake Canton and preventing; vandalism. Letter to be filed. Mayor Woods called for unfinished business. Mayor Woods called for new business. First reading of an Ordinance giving jurisdict _on of all recreational and development activities on Lake Canton and the land owned by the City surrounding said Lake to the Lake Development Committee. Alderman Jacobs moves and Alderman Whitehead seconds motion to suspend the rules. Roll call vote. AYE- Aldermen Rusnak, Duncan, Farr, Whitehead, Jacobs, Long, Kroell, Yerbic, Spencer, Ceorge, and Danner. NAY: Aldermen Howard and Ellis. (11 AY S and 2 NAYS) . Motion carried. Alderman Jacobs moves and Alderman Whitehead seconds motion to place this Ordinance on its passage. Discussion regarding the possibility of any interference with the ?dater Plant Superintendent's supervision of water treatment. Ald erman Jacobs reoorted that this committee will cooperate with al.1_ members of the Seiner and Water committee and with the grater treat- ment plant supervisor. Alderman Ellis recommended the defeat of the Ordinance and that the Lake Development committee be given the i,niform practice of all other com- mittees. Roll call vote on the motion. AYE: Aldermen Danner, George, Yerbic, Kroell, Long, Jacobs, Whitehead, Farr, Duncan, Rusnak, and Howard. NAY: Aldermen Spencer and Ellis. (11 A YES and 2 NAYS). Motion carried. This being Ordinance No. 160. Alderman Long moves and Alderman Jacobs seconds motion that the City Clerk be in- structed to open bids on repair and painting old water tower. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. The only bid received: Watertower Paint & Repair Co., Clear Lake, Iowa, $6,130.00 read. Alderman Long moves and AlderrMn -:Farr seconds motion to refer this bid to the Water and Sewer Committee for study and report to the next Council meeting. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous. Next item on agenda: Bids for sale of house on lot on 'past Locust Street. No bids received. Alderman Long moves and Alderman Jacobs seconds motion to adjourn. Voice vote. AYE: Unanimous.
