Alderman Turner reported that the old street sweeper was in bad condition,
needing a thorough overhauling that would cost approximately $2000.00 to put
it in good working shape and that he favored the purchase of a new sweeper --
preferably the Elgin Sweeper. He stated that Superintendent of Streets,
Robert Jennings, City Engineer Howard Gibbons and the Street and Alley Committee
had seen a demonstration of the Elgin sweeper and were agreeable to that
machine. Alderman Turner moved that the City of Canton purchase the Elgin
Sweeper. Alderman Lundry seconded the motion. Alderman Martin asked for a
review of the prices on all bids. Alderman Sebree inquired if all members
of the Committee were favorable with this purchase and Alderman Miller reported
that the reason he had asked for more time at the last Council 1Ieeting was for
further study but was now convinced that the Elgin is a very good sweeper.

Hill, Roy Hill, Shelby Wright, Turner, Wm. Wright, Jones, Miller, Lundry,
