April 3, 1957
A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of
7:30 P. M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the following present:
Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Coleman, 'turner, Staley, gook
and Hill. Absent: Alderman Skinner.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood approved as read.
A flag was presented to the Viayor for use in Jones i'ark by the Junior Girls
Unit of the V. j' . W. Auxiliary.

The following officer's monthly reports were presented and on motion of Alder-
man Smith, seconded by "lderman ''oleman, accented and ordered filed: Chief of Police;
City Engr;St. 6upt; Plumbing ins-)ector; Water &- Se.-er Dept; Water Treatment Plant
and Sewage Treatment plant.
On motion of alderman Hill, seconded by Alderman Cook, the fire chief was
authorized to arrange for a dinner for all Fire Companies Ddm from other districts,
who helped in the recent fire, ,,nd the motion carried by the following vote: i.`E:

A communication Zrom the Canton Junior chamber of Commerce, proposed as a
possible civic project, the installation of playground equipment in the South lark.
It was moved b y Alderman Tink, seconded by Alderman 'turner, the Buildings and
Grounds Ccmnittee meet with the Junior Chamber of Commerce in regard to this matter
and report back at the next meeting, and the motion carried.
An Ordinance "Disconnection of Territory on E. Chestnut St." was read. It
was moved by Alderman Sebree, seconded by Alderman amith, to suspend the rules. Moll
call v ote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, undry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Coleman, `turner,
Staley. NAY: Alderman Cook and Hill. It was moved by Alderman Sebree, seconded by
Alderman Staley, to place the "rdinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman
Sebree, Landry, Swick, Miller, Tink, Coleman, turner, and Staley. NAY: Alderman
Smith, Cook and Hill.
Ordinance "Annexation" was read the first time. It was moved by Alderman Hill,
seconded by Alderman Coleman, to suspend the rules. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman
Sebree, Landry, Swick, Smith, Miller, 'rink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, cook and Hill.
Alderman `turner moves, seconded by Alderman Miller to place the "rdinance on its
passage. Roll call vote: AEY: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink,
Coleman, burner, Staley, �'ook and Hill.
Ordinance "Annexation" was read the first time. It was moved by Alderman
Smith, seconded by Alderman Miller to suspend the Pules. Roll call vote: AYE:
Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook
and Hill. °lderman Turner moves, seconded by Alderman filler, to place the "rdinance
on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, 1'undry, Swick, Smith, Miller,

Ordinance "Yield-Right-of-Way signs" was read. It was moved by Alderman !"filler,
seconded by Alderman Staley, to suspend the rules. Holl call vote: AYE: Alderman
Sebree, t'undry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill.
It was moved by Alderman '`filler, seconded by Alderman Coleman to place the �rdinance
on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Landry, Swick, Smith, Miller,
Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill.
Alderman Smith moves, seconded by Alderman Swick, that $1000.00 be transfered
from the Sales Tax Fund to the Cemetery Fund. Roll c all vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree,
Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, gook and (fill.
It was moved by Alderman Lundry, seconded by Alderman Smith, to adjourn, and
the motion carried.
